We have black salamanders here in East Texas, we even have them in our pond. Salamanders are amphibians which mean they live in both water and on land. Here is a salamander we saw last week at Catfish Pond on our farm.

Salamanders are in danger of losing their habitat because of pollution. If you happen to see salamanders that means that the water where they are living is a healthy habitat. Here is a quick video with more information about finding salamanders in ponds.
Make sure to bring your camera when you visit to take photos of all the wildlife you are sure to encounter out on our farm!
